RECORD STORE DAY: April 18, 2026 9am-8pm

ALL THE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW AND MORE!

Welcome to the Guestroom Record Store Day Information page for RSD 2026! This year we will be participating in Record Store Day at both our original location at 1806 Frankfort Ave and our new store in the Highlands at 1330A Bardstown Rd!

If you’ve Record Store Day’ed with us before, you can expect a similar experience at both shops. We’re still opening at 9am, letting folks in 5 at a time, and have ordered up even more RSD stock to serve you. As always, RSD stock is “first-come, first-served, in-person, day-of” only. If you’re new, WELCOME! We’re excited to see you too!

Read up below on how to plan ahead and what to expect day of at BOTH STORES.

PLANNING AHEAD FOR RECORD STORE DAY

When will you open?

We will be opening 3 hours early on Saturday April 18th for RSD at 9am AT BOTH LOCATIONS.

What releases will you have for record store day?

Every year we order at least one copy of approximately 90% of official RSD Titles and order large quantities of items that we know are in high demand! For a full list of RSD TITLES, visit their website. WE HAVE DONE THIS FOR BOTH SHOPS.

However, given the limited nature of RSD releases, and the secured shipping schedule, we CANNOT CONFIRM STOCK until days before the event. RSD Titles in high demand are always allocated. An up-to-date list of confirmed in-stock RSD titles will be posted for both shops on Thursday 4.16.26

Are you splitting RSD stock between Frankfort Ave and Bardstown Rd?

NO! STOCK IS NOT BEING SHARED BETWEEN OUR STORES. Each store operates individually. You should expect to see stock levels at our Frankfort Ave store pretty much the same as its always been with similar amounts at our Highlands store. This year its truly double the Guestroom or RSD.

How early do people start lining up?

The very first person in line historically camps out at Frankfort Ave starting the afternoon/evening before.

Where will we be lining up?

AT FRANKFORT AVE: Line forms with the first person who shows up and runs west on Frankfort Ave (toward the river, Bae’s Bakery, etc) and around the corner on Pope Street. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL AND CAREFUL WHILE WAITING IN LINE.

IN THE HIGHLANDS: Line formation plans are still in the works. Stay tuned for more info!

Will there be online shopping for Record Store Day?

REMAINING RECORD STORE DAY TITLES WILL GO ONSALE HERE at 8AM EASTERN TIME on SUNDAY 4.19.26. Please note— this is a change from past years.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON RECORD STORE DAY

Waiting in Line/Getting in:

When 9am hits, we will begin letting in the first people in line, 5 people at a time, in 3-5 minute intervals OR LONGER to manage the crowd size inside the store.  Because the dedicated shopping space will still be limited at our Bardstown Rd. shop, we will still be using this line protocol. No pushing, no shoving just fun times with your new friends. Please be courteous to our neighbors and each other as you wait.

Will the line be shorter at the new location?

No idea. HOWEVER, we do anticipate that having a second location may decrease wait times at our Frankfort Ave shop for folks choosing to line up after 9am.

Where will I find RSD releases once I’m inside?:

AT FRANKFORT AVE, all RSD items will be on the walls, column shelves and display racks, same as they have always been. LP releases will line the walls in alphabetical order, starting to the immediate left and running clockwise through the entire store.  Box sets and oddly sized items will be on a display at the counter.

IN THE HIGHLANDS, RSD items will be filed alphabetically in clearly labeled racks dedicated to Record Store Day merchandise. Because wall space is limited in our Highlands store, WE WILL ONLY BE USING THE WALLS FOR 7”s, 10”, and overstock for titles with large fill rates. BOX SET LOCATION IS STILLE TBD.

AT BOTH STORES, if you need help locating an item, just look for a staff member with a clipboard and ask! We are happy to help!

Rules:

NO HOLDING SPACES IN LINE - Spaces may not be held for others (with the exception of small self-care breaks). Your human body must be in line (i.e. no chairs, etc holding a space for you). Do be neighborly if your line partners needs to excuse themselves for a moment. Have fun with your fellow vinyl listening family!! And remember, when the doors finally open, crowding the human in front of you will not get you the item you want any quicker.

Only 1 RSD item of its kind per person (i.e. No, we’re super sorry but you can’t pick up an extra special release for a friend.) RSD releases are first come, first served.

No holds on special RSD releases.

What else will be going on for Record Store Day?

In addition to RSD releases we will have a storewide 10% OFF sale on all Non-RSD items and we’re stocking up on choice used records special for RSD celebrations at both shops too! Stay tuned for more info leading up to the day. It’s an all day celebration of independent record stores and a day to say thank you for your support.
